About the Organizer

Science Outside the White House is organized by Outside the White House, a nonprofit organization that creates, develops, and offers programs and events to foster civic literacy and critical thinking in children and adults. Outside the White House was founded by Phaedra Siebert.

Siebert is a concerned parent who has turned to community education and organizing in the face of what she sees as potentially harmful trends in policy and funding. She homeschools her two young children, and runs Exploring Arts, a program with City Kids Co-op in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of NW DC, to foster critical thinking and visual literacy in kids. Siebert is also an art historian with over 25 years of museum experience.
